The rich soils of the Blackwater valley and the excellent climate elevation and topography make the Lismore area one of Irelands Premier Farming regions and Fortwilliam sits in the heart of this fertile agricultural centre.
The main farming enterprise at Fortwilliam is tillage consisting of wheat, barley and oats. David also runs a commercial angus and hereford cross friesian suckler herd and a small pedigree herd of Simmental cattle, which he brought over from the UK. Between the grassland and tillage interspersed with belts of woodland, indigenous hedgerows and mature Parkland trees, the farm comprises almost 400 acres.
David and his family can advise any guests of safe areas to enjoy a peaceful walk while on their stay here.
